Paid upgrade of plugin for v3?

Hi! I've been using Octane with LightWave for about a year already, and picked up Modo during this summer. But I miss working with Octane.
I'm thinking of upgrading to Octane 3, but I'm not sure whether the updated plugin for v3 also will be a paid upgrade?

It will determine whether to hold the purchase until Octane 3 ships, or purchase now.

I don't think there is any difference....if you pay for Octane 2 now (and get to use the Octane 3 alpha/beta) and upgrade to Octane 3 later, that is the same cost as purchasing Octane 3 once it is out of beta.

Ok! I'll get the Octane for Modo plugin now, and it won't cost me a dime to get going with v3 when it ships (except upgrade of Octane standalone) to upgrade.

That's not exactly what I said My understanding in your situation is that there would also be an update cost for the plugin (but I might be wrong on that - Otoy would need to confirm). Regardless, I believe that the cost of the Octane 2 version of the Modo plugin plus the update cost would be the same as the Octane 3 version of the Modo plugin.

Sorry for the late reply.

Just to see if I'm getting this right.
Currently the Octane v2 for Modo plugin license cost €179.

If the plugin for v3 cost €360 or something brand new, then the upgrade cost from v2 to v3 will be another €179?

So in general, the base cost of the Octane license will become more expensive for new buyers?
Please tell me if I'm wrong here. And I sort of hope I am.

My understanding is that the Octane 2 license fee + the Octane 2 to 3 upgrade fee = Octane 3 license fee. So there is no price difference between purchasing Octane 2 now then paying the upgrade compared with waiting and purchasing Octane 3. You ca confirm this with Otoy if you are in doubt.
