How did you do this pls Mac? I couldn't find a Rhino command to load a rmtl file. Now the best part - I managed to make a button to create new material (actually to load one saved earlier) - which means that this is exactly what I wanted, even more, I have more control, because I can define more commonly used materials (like white matte, black matte, chrome, etc) and add them via single click.

MAC,
please do it by more icon tools. That is very good.

Paul, I found it here:
http://tips.rhino3d.com/2011/06/new-com ... no-v5.html
And the command itself is:
RenderLoadMaterialFromFile
Which is not auto completing in command line of rhino - but it works.
Guys, I am working on the toolbar for adding materials with single click + some more goodies
Regards,
Mac

Thanks Mac - I was unaware of those Rhino commands. The RenderRemoveUnusedMaterials command could be useful too.

Great news
I tested saving octane materials to file - It works flawlessly. I thought that I can save only rhino materials that way. Now I think I will save all my octane materials to files - it is easier and quicker to add them this way instead of creating and than importing from localdb.
Now the best part - I managed to make a button to create new material (actually to load one saved earlier) - which means that this is exactly what I wanted, even more, I have more control, because I can define more commonly used materials (like white matte, black matte, chrome, etc) and add them via single click.
Thank you Paul, your tip was crucial.
P.S. - If someone is interested in a toolbar with such a buttons let me know, I'll create such one and upload on the forums.

Mac
