Can't get Octane to Render

I'm trying out the demo and have successfully installed, but can't get any visual output. I've run through the "Your First Octane Scene" in the help, but when I click "Render to Disk" in the ROP, nothing happens. (running OSX so no IPR)

I have downloaded the latest build from the forum and am using "Octane_2.25.0.1_Houdini_15.0.347_OSX" as this matches the version of Houdini I am running. I have Octane standalone 2.25 installed (there appears to be no 2.25.0.1 available anywhere on the Otoy site)

Is the download in the Forum's Latest Releases section not a demo? I checked Otoys main site's demo download section but they do not have a version of the Houdini plugin that is compatible with the version of Houdini I am running.

Debug throws this to console :

ROP node start render
DEBUG: [core] -------------- Created or updated in version 2.25.0.1
DEBUG: [core] -------------- Houdini/FX license found, no render restrictions
INFOR: [license] ----------- Authenticate Octane license
DEBUG: [license] ----------- user: user, password: password

Some other notes if they help:

When booting up Houdini I notice that an error is thrown: "Houdini DSO error on '/Users/xxxxxx/Documents/Octane_2.25.0.1_Houdini_15.0.347_OSX/dso/liboctane.dylib'
Missing version information."

Since I am using the Octane plugin as a demo, I should leave the "user" and "password" as is, correct?

Thanks for the video Ben, nice to have it explained nice and clear - but yeah, I did all of that and no dice. Maybe this version is not set up to work as a demo...?

The commercial version is not going to work as demo version. You need to download the demo version to test the plugin.

Currently the demo is only available for H14.0.474 and H15.0.244 ... I will try to update the demo versions to the last H15 production builds along this week.

Ok, thanks Juan, I'll see if I can get an older build of Houdini installed here to test it out.

SideFX sure doesn't make it easy on plugin developers.

Thanks. Please be aware that you are testing Octane 2.2. We don't have demo versions of Octane 3 yet, so a lot of cool features, like volumetric rendering, are not available yet in the demo.
