I've been reading other threads about the GPU's that people are using and suggesting, but there's one thing I'm not clear on.

My limited understanding is that if you have a 2GB card and 4 GB card, Octane will use the 2GB card, since the scene has to "fit" on both cards.

What I'm not sure about, is if there's a way to force Octane to only use the 4GB card, and then use the 2GB just for system display(s).
I currently have a GTX 650TI, and would like to get either a 980 or 970...but if there's no way to force it to just use the 4GB card, I'll be stuck with that 1GB I have now.

Any info appreciated.

Yes, that is absolutely possible. :D Just connect your monitor(s) to your 2Gb card. Then in Octane's preference just activate the 4Gb card and de-activate the 2Gb card. Plugins should also have the ability to turn cards on and off.
