I'm trying to get octane working on my mac pro (with nvidia quadro k4200 and latest cuda drivers and toolkit) and can't get octane to see the graphics card. The standalone version of octane comes up with a message saying 'no CUDA GPUs' and when I look in the preferences it doesn't show the card. Nothing at all renders. Have had it working on a PC with the same graphics card and the card is working in other programs on the mac so not sure what it is I'm doing wrong. Would massively appreciate any thoughts anyone has on this! Thank you!

Can you post some extra details?
Are you running Mac OSX or Windows on the Mac?

Hi kamber,
I have tried to find some info about K4200 on Mac but seems not easy to use this card with Os X for CUDA apps
Anyway it seems very good to handle high res displays.
I not also found good info about the power pin, does it use a 6 pin connector or not?
Since it is a single slot card, my suggestion, if possible, os to leave the Quadro in the first bottom slot for display only and add a second GTX card n the second slot with a gap for Octane only.
If the Quadro has no pin connectors, you can easily add a 970 doubling the calculation power, otherwise, you need an external PSU to feed the new card, or a way to obtain the power from the extra DVD bay like suggested here
ciao beppe

It uses a 6 pin connector, and everything else on the mac works with it, including openGL display inside cinema 4d. It worked fine on the PC running everything fine + octane. That's why we were confused as to why it stopped working only for octane when moving it to our mac.

Hi, I am not OSX user but found Quadro FX for Mac or GeForce for Mac must be installed prior to CUDA 7.5.25 installation.

Hi,
since is written everywhere that Octane needs CUDA, I was assuming that kamber already installed the CUDA drivers but the card was not usable under Mac anyway. Mac is a bit strange, we don't have any issue with installing PC GTX from a long time now because the GTX production for mac is over. But with Quadro cards the things are a bit different
Edit: after searching a bit better, I have found a Korean mac user that was able to successfully install a K4200 on Mac Pro 5.1 on Os X 10.10.1, so it's possible:
