Hi
I have 1 machine; my workstation.
I use Deadline farm management for handling my batch jobs.
I simply cannot get Octane to work as a batch process through Deadline.
My machine is licensed.
I use Maya. The plugin is licensed and works.
Everything works when doing IPR renders within Maya.
However.
Jobs sent to Deadline fail with this error: OctaneRender is not activated!
Yet Octane IS activated - I'm using it on the same machine through Maya with no problems.
Not sure what else to say:
Maya2016
Win7
Octane Standalone 2.24.2 is installed and activated
Maya plug 2.24.2-7.2 is installed and activated
Deadline 7 (which is Octane render aware)
Help appreciated.

I found a solution to the issue I've been having:
DO NOT USE OCTANE IN PRODUCTION.
Yup, sadly my favourite renderer is not ready for the big-time. It's a great toy to play with, but it simply is not a production ready tool.
The bugs are numerous, and the 'support' is the worst I've experienced (okay, not as bad as Autodesk circa 2009, but pretty bad).
Instead, I've commited to another ULTRA FAST GPU renderer which IS production ready - RedShift. The team over there are AMAZING in their efforts to create production ready tools.
In fact, I discovered a bug in the Redshift renderer and reported it - the team had a NEW BUILD back to me WITHIN 48 HOURS.
I can't even get a proper response to a bug on these forums within that timeframe, let alone a fresh build of the software which fixes my issues.
Sorry team Octane - I know you are real humans, and the core of what you have made is amazing (which is why I've tinkered with it over the years), but Octane+Maya is simply not ready for proper production work.
A key part of using a renderer in production, is knowing that should things 'not work', the development team are there to support and help you when the pressure's on. OToy does not provide that with Octane.
Once upon a time Pixar were like this - impossible to get support during crunch times. But they've adapted and generally speaking, will make bug fixes to Renderman within a tight time frame. They do this by providing 'key words' for their customers to use when things are going bad - SHOW STOPPER. When they see those words, they respond immediately. Of course, the dollar investment from Pixar customers is VERY different to the average Octane customer, but that should not limit the level of support. For example, the customers who have paid 1$ for my iPhone app still get immediate, personable responses from me when they require support - they are never left in the dark.
I know you guys are small, but I really think you need to refocus your efforts to better support your customers. Or before too long, you simply won't have customers to support.

I am really sorry that no one answered your earlier post. I will look into how this happened. I am on this and will make sure the Maya devs are too.
One thing to note is that any urgent support issues should be routed through helpdesk, where it will get a ticket and immediately brought to the attention of the devs.

With my suggestion I meant did you run the batch file that comes with octane Standalone?
It configures your machine for the slave mode daemon but also asks for license details.

@SimonPercy
Thanks for clarifying.
I have never installed standalone on this machine. I exclusively use the Maya interface to Octane.
I'll have a look at what you're suggesting, and see if that helps.
@Goldorak
I appreciate the help, but of course for this project it is too late (I've now shifted the project to Redshift). Which is a shame, as this project is a very high profile TVC campaign with a tens-of-millions of dollars media spend (which equates to hundreds of millions of eyeballs on Octane renders). Although I can't see myself using Octane in production ever again.
Can you please guide me on how I access the 'help desk'. I previously looked around the website and could not see any method of contacting someone - aside from the forums, and the license@ email address. I would expect to see something in the 'Account portal' eg, ' Lodge a Ticket/Support request'.
