I don't know is it a bug or a feature...But i love Specular material more and more.
Just changed "Plane Orientation" from +X to -X.

It's expected. Needs normals which are pointed toward out of volume.
Don't use planes, use boxes if you want exact same glass effect.

It's a C4D problem of screwing up Normal direction of polygon when using "Plane Orientation". I just was surprised that other renders can handle it easy without artifacts. So apology for a harsh post.
I don't think there's a bug or problem on plugin. It just normalizes the normals how you tweaked.

I want to go even further, for me it's a feature, we can have negative volumes, air volumes inside fog volumes, infinite water planes and optical simulations thanks to this "feature", just to give some examples 
If you don't need this, just use a glossy with falloff opacity.
