BUT, my PC does have a new Spring Fresh effervescence.

I just tested with 362.00 and works fine.
Smicha, you have a 1x device in your rig?

Hi all,

Not test yet the release as I'm in vacation :D ,
But I have the amfeltec splitter : http://amfeltec.com/products/flexible-x ... -oriented/
and a 1x USB3 riser : http://www.amazon.fr/Riser-extender-exp ... B00IN2KOLC

All these solutions freeze when high resolution with V3 alpha (up to 5).
I will have soon the amfeltec cluster (dual version --> up to 8GPU) : http://amfeltec.com/products/gpu-oriented-cluster/
But as I have already fixed watercool GPUs on the splitter, I cannot transfer them on the cluster. I will just move the one on USB3 riser on it to see if it will be better. Hope that amfeltec will find something related to our issue.

Hi everyone!

We needed a new computer at the office, so I managed to convince them to buy a Titan X card so that we could try if Octane maybe could be something we could use in upcoming projects. ( it usually involves CAD files of around 55 million polys, thats why I wanted to try with the Titan X ).

So when trying to see how much polys I could fit into the 12 gigs of memory I noticed something strange. when importing even small files I saw that 2.1 gigs of my vram was unavailable.

This is with a recently rebooted computer and nothing else running than octane standalone on windows 10 pro with driver version 361.91

On my computer at home running win 8.1 its only around 250 mb thats unavailable when running the same small scene on the same version of standalone. (alpha 6)

Anyone else have the same problem on windows 10?

This is widely known problem in windows 10 - look for the topic somewhere in this forum. BTW yesterday when I turned sli on for my 780 6gb I also lost over 1GB of vram, then turned it off and all went back to normal.

Developers,

Sighman, the developer of Octane for Carrara seems to be on a break so far this year 2016, so I have no choice but to come here. I'm running into an odd issue with version 3, all alphas so far including the current alpha 6. For some reason my renders are looking very odd when specular materials are involved. The scene below is the exact same file, opened in Octane for Carrara version 2.24.82 and again in 3.00.001 version standalone 3 alpha 6.

Khevarys 2.jpg
Notice the strange sharpness of the shadows as well as some other problems along the shoulder and the face for example. There is a known issue with the Carrara 3.0 plugin where several render target settings refuse to display proper values. But it was said that though the interface doesn't display the values for Diffuse and Specular depth properly, that it does still apply changes that are made. Right now they always display as Diffuse Depth 100 and Specular depth 100. So to bring things back in line with the original I manually input Diffuse Depth 8 and Specular depth 60 to achieve the intended look for the skin. I've tried manually re-setting every single render target node in PMC and path tracing in hopes of fixing the issue, but it is hard to be certain the changes to Diffuse and Specular depth are indeed affecting the scene in the intended manner.

Visually it appears to me as if the values of the render target are indeed the issue, but I'm uncertain.

I should state that I am the only person who I've seen reporting this issue, even among the Octane for Carrara users. All my graphics drivers are up to date as of yesterday to no avail.

I've been looking for weeks on the forums to see if anyone else has observed this behavior. So far no one mentions it so I'm beginning to wonder if I'm somehow doing something wrong.
Any and all ideas are greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance for your time.

Yes, that looks like a bug in Octane. Could you send us an export of the scene or another (simpler) scene that shows this problem? Thank you.

1. Is it only me or the undo (ctrl-z) doesn't work anymore ?
2. The buttons in the node inspector are underlighted.

Undo has not been working for me either - just get a nasty sounding "bonk" on my Mac.

It still works, but you have to have a window (in focus) selected that contains the node graph editor, node inspector or outliner. This will probably change with the next version and will be more robust.

Yes, I can confirm. I broke it when fixed the render lock icon. Will be fixed with the next version.
