HI all,

I have several projects were if I use out of core ram on network render I get errors and aborted renders.

here is some info:

1.- All Gpus are 3Gb 780Tis ( 11 of them )
2.- Out of core could be 100Mb to a max of 1Gb
3.- All slaves have tested ram / motherboards and 24 Gb ram, so there is no lack of ram.
4.- Slave Daemon running with setting of 4 or 6 Gb for out of core, so no lack of ram.
5.- only less than 30K polygons.
6.- However I render arround 8000 pixels wide by say 5000.
5.- If i lower to say 6000 pixels wide, no out of core is needed, no crashes.

What is going on please?

I sometimes Cuda error 700 on my Device 0 ( main GPU on workstation ) but that is expected if lack of ram is expected on the display Card, as it is displaying a 3K monitor.

But the slaves?

I thought out of core was to solve RAM limitations, not adding more problems.... Am i doing something incorrectly?

Thanks!

What version of Octane are you using? It is known that the Octane 3 alpha 4 has a massive memory leak in the render nodes that is fixed now in alpha 6

2.24.2...... Gracias.

What can it be? I am testing my Ram on motherboards, so far no issues.
The GPUS are water coolled. 55C at max trottle.
running between 1150 - 1250 Mhz. A touch fast, no real OC.

The only think i can think was hot vrm on the Gpus, but they have sinks and fan ( kranken g10 )

The main PC will abort render right away with renders arround 8000x5000 pixels.... the out of core would be only 50mb to max 1G.
no time to get hot vram.

So i guess it is on the daemon drivers?

same projects satble if rendered with no out of core. ( exepting ocassional CUda error 7000 on Device o, display card )
Daemons on slaves report several types of errors, but also in plain text ( cant allocate memory for device )
Abort....

It is hard to say. Have you tried to update your install to the last 2.25.0.0 build? In few days I will release also the Octane 3 alpha 6 build, that should work with the render nodes without problems.

It should work fine, but for network rendering you need the alpha 6 that I will release as soon as possible, because the alpha 4 has a known memory leak in the render nodes.

Meanwhile you could test the 2.25 version, to know if you get the same behavior.
