Hi,
I just saw the octane render plugin and I must say it is fast in de preview window.
But I see that the speed is a hole lot slower in de final render.
I would like to compare the progresive render and real render in C4D as an exemple vs octane.
Is octane really faster for the definitive render...?
Is there a video where we can see how fast octane is in the definitive render ?
thank you very much
friendly greetings
Didier
renderview speed versus preview render
Final output and live viewer gives same speed and results. There is not any different. Only different is LV is display 8bit buffer, final output can be 8bit or float. Anyway this not causes any big impact on speed.
Just be sure that you set the maxsamples are same.

Finally solved this one it appears. You can turn on the same 'Preview' settings in the output Mantra node and get the 'no process black area' for speedier renders. This might also solve the disparity between Render View Preview tests and output renders. You simply add the 'Preview' tab to the Mantra node under the Edit Rendering Parameters. Try this: Mantra node/Edit Rendering Parameters(under the cog icon, top right). Put "Preview" in the Filter, lower left and under the tab 'For Rendering' there will be a Folder called 'Preview' under Mantra. Move it across to the Existing Parameters by selecting the folder and clicking the right arrow. Now you have a tab called Preview in Mantra and the trick is to set the Preview to time to anything greater than 0. Now you should have renders that don't process empty black areas.
