I have tried to use the denoiser but I think Octane doesn't have the correct passes yet? Please! put speed AND it's alternatives like this on the top of your list. I will gladly pay for the denoiser too. ;)

Again, team Corona with exemplary updates/roadmaps:

They will have an integrated denoising system in the next update which will probably be released in about one month.

Hey Rob I also did read that announcement. It great isn't it.
Do you know about the drawbacks of the altus denoising , if there are any?
I think corona denoising is infact the altus denoising embedded in the system right?

I bet otoy is working on the same thing right now. It should be easier to adapt an already found solution to the noise problem. Rather than creating a better image sampler or kernel for less noisy renders.

Whatever will that be it has to be embedded right the software and should immediate feedback when denoising is turned on or off.

Would be the best update; I could live without all the V3 features.
Don't know if Corona uses the Altus system, I think it's their own.
I guess the only drawback is that it slightly blurs some parts when there is not enough information.
Hopefully it will be nicely integrated when it's released someday in 2024 ;)

You're so cruel. That must be earlier than that. Say 2019?

Version 1.3 Beta now with CUDA support.

From the newsletter:
Altus is now quite a bit smarter in GPU mode. If you have a multi-GPU setup, Altus will automatically choose the card with the most memory. If a failure occurs while operating in GPU mode, Altus will automatically restart in CPU mode so your image will filter no matter what.

Until now, OpenCL has been a prequisite for Altus. We’ve received requests from many of you with high-end GPUs that do not support OpenCL, but do support CUDA. To that end, we’re excited to release a beta version of Altus 1.3 that supports CUDA. For now, it’s only available for Windows. If you encounter any problems or need a Linux build, we appreciate hearing about it! The CUDA beta will be available from our downloads page by March 1.

Setting up Altus on Linux is now significantly easier. Before, you had to hunt down dependencies like Boost and OpenEXR; Altus now compiles the libraries it needs statically so you can just download and run.

For those of you with custom rendering pipelines, we now preserve both data and display window parameters from input files’ original headers.

We are working diligently to integrate stereo multilayer EXR support and are excited to announce that while this functionality did not make it into 1.3, it will be ready for release in 1.4 or possibly sooner in a 1.3.x release.

I would be very interested to see the Brigade denoiser brought over, assuming it uses geometry for its calc and not just the final image. Looks like Corona is going to kick butt for interiors while we are still waiting 8 hours for 10000 sample still noisy renders. :D

The brigade denoiser has a lot of potential if deeply integated in octane, like many other Brigade features that made their way to V3.
