Hey guys,

I have a question: What's the workflow for compositing a model into a scene including assets contained in something like this: https://www.hdri-hub.com/hdrishop/hdri/ ... 9-garage-2

Do I use two sky objects, one for the viewer, one for the HDR, and a shadow catcher, or are there steps I'm missing?

Thanks!

Octane doesn't support two hdrs together as you wish.

Well what would be the best workaround? Can I use a camera projection somehow or a background object?

It depends to what do you want to obtain and your back image. I think projection types will not help to map any other hdr to a plane.

Could you give me an idea?

I did see that already, but thanks for the reminder.

Do you think I could just use an octane sky object with the HDR for lighting, and use a huge sphere textured with the non-HDR version for the background?

I'm trying to composite an object into a photograph, if that wasn't already clear.

Hi,
in your example it seems an indoor scene, so why don't you use the same HDR for lighting and adding a couple of emitters where needed?
In this way, should be more easy to have a perfect matching, I guess

That sounds reasonable, but I don't understand what the emitters would be used for.

Hi professorhaddock,
since you have talked about sky + HDR + shadow catcher, the emitter/emitters could be used for lighting and ground shadow, if the HDR is not good enough
