I had my power go out in the middle of a render and now render to MPlay no longer works from the Octane ROP. Houdini's Mantra still opens MPlay as well as Houdini's playblast feature but octane no longer calls up MPlay. Any assistance with this issue would be amazing!

I solved it by deleting the entire houdini15.0 folder in the Documents folder. I probably should have specified that I am running it in Houdini 15 in windows 10...

It happens for me also, yesterday was all ok when Octane invoke Mplay, today the console just says that "error opening the tile device", so Mplay doesnt work anymore.

This problem can be something related to some lock files that MPlay store in the Houdini configuration folder.

Please check your Houdini configuration folder ($HOME/houdini15). If at some point in the past your MPlay application have crashed, sometimes it could leave in this folder a file named something like ".flipbook_lock.computer_name". Remove it and the MPlay should work again without problems.

I am not sure. I am checking the code to know if at some point the Octane plugin could exit without close the MPlay driver.
