Hi all, do any of you have advice on how to get rid of noise with indoor scenes, I struggle with this often with octane, poser plugin, daz plug in standalone... when i out doors scenes or knock down walls and use HDRI looks clear as can be 2000 passes...

In this setting, I have 2 lights (blackbodie lights) in this scene mesh lights one behind her, on eon top one in front off to left. increasing light power burns out the charterer, reducing and cranking up exposure still has noise. I also have an HDRI coming in through windows with opacity set at .1 on the glass.....

thanks for any help / guidance..

If your glass material is specular, you can leave the opacity at 1. For the noise, try reducing the Path Termination Power as per the Octane Notes link in my signature.

Interesting, had no idea about this setting, found this on a post in general forums, so question would be why is default set so high? I put it at 1, see if ti helps, thanks!

GI clamp will compress the contribution of indirect light in a scene. This way you can use it to clear any or all fireflies in a scene and get faster renders. Usually a setting of 1 will be best, it will keep the overall illumination but you will not have have caustics in your scenes, but just play with it. If you want to have some caustics you could set higher values and will be able to keep control of the contribution from them, thereby keeping noise reduced. Try with settings between 5 - 10. A value of 0 on GI clamp will just result in direct light only and no bouncing of light in a scene.

I doubt your noise problem is GI clamp (but try it at between 5 and 10 - since IMO 1 is too low). Try setting Path Termination Power to it's lowest setting possible. You can also increase the Sampling Rate on the emission nodes of the emitter lights.

Should GI Clamp be left alone or reducing down to like 10 is good practice? thanks!
