Hi Ppl,

Just built a new wks around the x980 i7 and a gtx480 an intel boot ssd and 24gb of ramness

As i want to use 3-4 screens i added a cheaper nvidia n220gt which is also smaller so my 480 can breathe fine.

All is working well except octane seems to only want to use the 220 card
When i remove it octane picks the 480 as it should.

The 480 is in pci16_1 and the 220 is in pci16_2

Any clue what i am doing wrong ?
Kind regards,
Kurt

I think you should first download and install the latest drivers from the nvidia front page,
then try again.
also, disable any possible SLI config (if present, likely not with this setup) in your nvidia control panel and experiment with switching the physx on/off.

if that does'nt do it, try swapping the cards.
you should also see if the driver you're using actually supports those 2 cards.
you can see this in the driver's release notes, it should list all supported GPUs.

Thanks for the swift reply Terrence,
Installed all latest drivers but still get the 220 selected first so when i 'max2octane' ineed to save first and remove/change devices which is not too bad.
I tried changing physix and sli but not changes yet.
I'll leave it for now and see how it goes with new releases, just currious what is causing this.

I think you need to put the 220 in the first slot if it is the only display card.
I think windows requires it there. Also dont connect screens/extend the windows to the 480 while rendering.

As to whether Octane is selecting the right card -
I have this inconvenience too but possibly for some other reason.
Octane picks my 570 ahead of the 250.
It used to work properly but in the last beta it changed.
I did report this as a bug but...such is life ;)

Cheers mate,
the 480 is the main display card and should thus be in slot 1 so max and other programs use it when started.
changing the cards would feel strange and probably result in more problems imo
leaving it as it is to see what changes in the next release
thx for the help though,kurt
