This happens only when I use the baking camera feature.
Tomorrow morning I will post the exact drivers and specs. I've just reinstalled yesterday my Windows and I've downloaded the latest version from the Nvidia site. When the baking feature was released, I've made a quick test and I've thought that the problem was from my system , so I've waited to finish the project I was working on in order to make a clean install and test again.

If I only use the GPUs installed in my box, everything is OK.
The scene doesn't use any textures and I've tried also to set the parallel samples to 1. Tried also to test the scene in Standalone but I get the same problem.
Hi,
Seems that you have similar issues as my system. Marcus said that something rely to the slow 1X PCIe. Did you try PMC ? it don't use tiles rendering, and communication to host (film buffer) is reduced (something like that).

Is OBJ import somehow broken or do I not understand one of its many options right (I leave it on default)? I have an OBJ file, that I can flawlessly import in Blender or Meshlab ... but Octane 3a4 immediatly tells me "could not load". it's not a problem of the MTL or so (I also tested disabling MTL import) .. it just instantly say "sorry, no".

No it's not broken. Using it all the time. Post an example and we can have a look, why it doesn't load. Did you try older builds?

Not yet. i can't share the OBJ, as it's not a public thing (part of the Star Citizen game, where the makers let us hobbyists fool around with the assets for fan art). But I can show the error at least. Note that it does load free of errors in both Blender and Meshlab.

I get this immediatly:

And I'm using these default options:

(Note that they intimidate me and I have not yet much clue about some of them :P)

EDIT: Checked ... 2.24.2 does the same thing, errors out.

EDIT2: Also checked it out with OpenCTM viewer .... which also loads the file without errors. 3 against 1 now for Octane :P

EDIT3: Checked with Keyshot 5 ... also loads it without problems

Did Trial and error: If I disable "Load Vertex normals", it works .. model is upside down, but it imports.

Just tried PMC with just one card from the three ones installed on the Amfeltech cluster and still got a freeze and crash.
The drivers installed are 361.43
I've got two Gigabyte Gtx970 and one Zotac Gtx970 on my Amfeltech expansion cluster.
I will try to take one out and install it in my case to see if it's a problem with the cards, but I doubt it. While rendering everything works fine, just when baking I'm getting crashes and even if I use just one of the expansion cluster cards.

Just tested one of the cards from the cluster by installing it in my case and everything is ok with the baking if I don't use the cluster expansion cards.
As soon as I use even just one cards from the expansion, I got a crash. And this happens just when using the baking camera. Normal rendering works like a charm.

Hi, Just test also the backing camera :
- All my internal 3 GPUs : OK
- add one on the amfeltec (Titan) : OK
- add 2 on amfeltec : OK
- add 3 on amfeltec : OK
- add 4 on amfeltec : OK (not sure as I expected a crash when playing with some parameters), but not crash instantly.
- add one on USB3 Riser : crash !

I have set my TDRdelay to 30s.
