Hi,

working since days on a heavier scene without problems.

But suddenly, I get Tdr crashes everytime I start to render in LV.
Have added a regkey "TdrDelay = 3) but without any success.
Both Titans are running at about 80° C like always.

Half an hour ago everything was fine.

Has anyone got an idear, what else could cause this problem?
( 2 Titans, R17, Wi n10 64 (since 2 month))

And I switched back to 2.24.2 Test 5.2 for that project because
I had other crashes with 3.1

thanks
Mike

edit:

a earlier safed version of my project renders fine.
Seams that the problem lies in the project-file.
My question now:
what could cause these Tdr-problems within a c4d file?
An object, light or a spline?
???

thanks
Mike

Thanks for very informative post ;) Your post doesn't give me any idea. Looks like a guessing game. Can you set TdrDelay = 30 or more, restart and try. TDR is a timeout value for driver to avoid crashes when it's unresponsive due high calculations.
Also can you post these kind of issues on related versions(v3 alpha topic)?
My advice to you and all guys: To hide/delete somethings until ride away the crashes. And find the reason of crashes by this way.

Thought, that you read in this report maybe what causes these crashes.

So sending bugreports is useless!

That's because from Win 8 and forward Microsoft changed a lot of stuff regarding Tdr, and the TdrDelay key is default set to 8 and seems to work a bit different.
see this for details https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... s.85).aspx
If you added "TdrDelay = 3" via a script or .reg file you downloaded you have probably decreased the time to wait instead of increasing it.
I would start the troubleshooting with:
What power supply do you have, how many Watt?

Hi preciousillusion ,

well, actually I have set the Tdr to 30.
Have a 900W gold level PSU, 2 Titans, dual xeon E5 2680v2, 64 Gig Ram, Win 10 Pro 64.

Since I changed again to Octane 3.1 the Tdr-problem has gone (it seams), but I'm fighting now
with other crashes I cannot explain. Sometimes it renders - sometimes it crashes - sometimes a
few frames get rendered before crashing....

I know have the suspicion, that it has to do with the scene I'm working since a week.
(1300 objects, 3,9 Mio poly, vram 4,7 gig free) I tried to recover all changes I did last day, but
the reason for these crashes I cannot identiy. They are coincidentally.

So I really hoped, that a bugreport will give the decisive information, but ...

Mike,
So saying that's crashing and posting just bugreport doesn't help. We cannot know without seeing your scene content. When you send bugreports to Maxon they want also scene files, exact steps to reproduce errors.
