I need a clear 'Yes' or 'No' to weather the dialog should be removed. The removal of unused environments and render settings is a much bigger topic, and is going to take longer for me to get to.
I find it useful, so I'm going to vote 'No'.

Hi Paul!
I think I'm having some trouble managing the presets both in the renders setting and in the environments.
For some reasons when I create mine something doesn't work and even the import and export seems to the troubled.

Is it possible to create a sort of present that is automatically loaded every time I launch the plugin ? This will be a huge time saver.

Thanks!

I was actually imagining 2 checkboxes, one to suppress dialogue and one to confirm you really wanted it, preferably this 2nd one would be hidden and not shown, unless you would check a 3rd "show hidden options" checkbox. That way, if you checked the first one by accident it wouldn't go into effect, and you wouldn't be confused by the dialogues disappearing.

I vote to keep the dialogue.

What release of DAZStudio are you using? The was a bug in the beta version of 4.9 which caused issues similar to this. If it's not a DAZStudio problem, then you will need to give me an exact sequence of steps to take to reproduce this problem.

If there are differing thoughts/opinions maybe a "suppress dialogue prompts" checkbox in preferences so that you can disable or have dialogue prompts like this? Me, I don't care that the dialogue is there.
I would rather not add another preference checkbox for this, since it is a minor issue, and the number of options in the plugin is already quite overwhelming for new users.

I agree... though isn't it fun being a computer check box nerd rather than someone that likes render pretty pictures.
Has this feature being disabled yet? without a check box?... becoming a pain in the bum, either save them or don't, I don't care, but lose the dialogue box.... please.

Hi Paul, sure, here my steps (ps I'm using DS 4.8).

Ps I really, really like to have the ability to open DazStudio and the octane pluging and have my settings ready. I just wish to change the main settings!

I've noticed this also with the newer builds of the v2.xx plugin. The viewport update is slower especially when using HDR environments. This affects simple and complex scenes none of which exceed 3GB VRAM. I'm also getting problems with the OcDS panes disappearing behind DS while the plugin updates itself. This is mainly a problem while editing rather than rendering animation. I'm using 4 x NVidia 760 4GB, none of which are dedicated to graphics so OcDS uses them all, but this never caused slow down problems in the past versions of plugin. It's not as slow to update as DS IRAY but not as fast as v1 and earlier v2 plugin versions.
If you have a specific scene which is measurably slower on the current release than previous releases, pls send it to me (incl all assets) and I will take a look.

Paul
I worked out what was causing the slow down and it was the number of unused materials saved with the scene. Once I deleted all the unused materials everything became much faster again.

I think your workflow is not quite right. If you click the '?' then render settings combobox, the help text explains you need to New, then Copy in order to get the new render settings in My Presets. Importing does not appear to be correctly setting all the pin values, which I have spent a lot of time trying to fix, but not yet come up with a solution.

I've already tried that solution and this is what I get (right after creating it and also after restated DS) :

You then need to click copy. This is because the preset render setting is not actually in the scene at that point, so you need to copy it into the DS scene. If you had 200 presets - you wouldn't want all 200 loaded into your scene automatically, so you need to Copy.
