Hello, I'm trying to install the demo on my laptop (HP 8710W with a quadro FX 1600M), unfortunatly I got the message " No Cuda capable found device, exiting..."
The Quadro is list under CUDA compatible on nvidia web site.

To True is that is really unclear what must be install to get octane work properly. On the video it's just about "cuda Driver" button that link you to plenty of staff to be install. Lot of people will apreciate if an exact list of what must be download, ie : do we need the developer Drivers for WinXP (197.13) or the GPU Computing SDK code samples, and again the NVIDIA Performance Primitives (NPP) library...

I personnaly installed the Toolkit and the Notebook Developer Drivers for WinXP but I'sm stack with " No Cuda capable found device, exiting..."!!

Thanks to be more accurate in your installation tutorial.

Hi,

There is a complete video tutorial that explains everything, and the release notes, both linked on the downloads page, which contain exactly what you need to install.

You should, in your case, install the latest drivers for your GPU, which support Cuda 3.0.
You don't need to install anything else than drivers on a windows machine.
You only have to install the cuda toolkit additionally on mac os X or linux.

thanks,
I've been through all video tutorial, and it's not clear what must be install or not. Sorry but it's unclear. However, I've been able to install succesfully the Cuba driver, and octane launch properly. Unfortunatly, while lauching the benchmark demo file, the screen freeze! Of course I do have only one card on this machine (fx1600m)!

My laptop is not the last one but surely not the oldest one ! it is a mobile 3d workstation. So I'm so suprise that Octane freeze the machine right away!

Any tricks to prevent such freeze are welcome!

Hi,

You need to supply information before we can help you,
please place your hardware, OS and driver setup in your signature like everyone else,
and also note that your card is quite slow and old.
it's probably not freezing but just doing 4-5 seconds per frame and it makes your system very unresponsive,
so you need to enable supersampling. (the largest of 3 checkerboard icons)

if it truly freezes you have a driver or hardware issue.

As I'm unable to find out how to edit my profil, here it is:
Win XP pro 32bit
HP 8710W with intel core 2 duo T7700 2 Ghz
Quadro FX 1600M
4 Gb ram
Diplay 1920x1400 pixel

I tried the chess demo as well, the first one force Octane to quit, the second one procedural, freeze the system (as for the benchmark). Both freeze immediatly after I click the node. So I got no time for subsampling change!

Hi,

That's not the right driver version,
check in c:\nvidia
see what's in there.

It should be something like XXX.XX

Hi,

Those are the latest drivers available, afaik it's the same ones we use here at work on our workstations currently.
So you say with this driver you get the message 'no cuda capable devices' ?

Can you try reinstalling it ?
Just go in c:\nvidia\257.21 and launch\...\...\ and launch the setup executable.
