Hi,
I continue my bug list (don't know if it's a bug, but very annoying).
I have a scene I would like to turn around (animation).
Initial scene take a certain amount of memory :
So this scene could be render with my 780Ti (3GB)
After making the animation and go to a random frame, I get this :
And I can't use my 780Ti anymore !?
Is there some duplicate figures out there to increase so much the geometry ?
OctaneRender material / Textures used and unique textures data seems to decrease, but GPU Memory hase increase alot.
Something wrong ?
I will try to do another scene...

It looks like the geometry is taking more space, but there are not more triangles in the scene. I couldn't reproduce this issue on a scene with the SubDragon figure. Perhaps it is something specific related to you scene that is triggering this. After making the animation and go to a random frame, I get this :

Hi Paul,
Yes, I think that's something wrong with the scene. Perhaps, when I use group, but not sure.
Test also with Daz 4.8 + OcDs 3, Daz 4.9 + OcDs 2.24 and Daz 4.9 + OcDs 3 : same issue.
It's about the animation. When I use fisrt frame and turn camera, it's OK.
Could you point me a direction to investigate ?
What a pity that I have not saved the scene before making the animation.
I will try to reset the animation. What is the best way to clear all animation ? (save subset scene ?)
thanks

I'm sorry - I don't have a clear understanding of the exact workflow you are following. I suggest trying to reproduce the issue with a simple scene (with just a blank G3 figure). If you can get the problem to occur that way, send me the scene, and give my the exact steps you are taking to get the problem, and I will fix it.Yes, I think that's something wrong with the scene. I am not clear on what you are saying. Are you saying you should be able to rename a material in the NGE? Or that you can currently change the name in the NGE but it is not saved?I can't change the names of materials in the NGE. It lets me change the name when a material is selected, but it doesn't store it.

The latter, sorry if I wasn't clear enough. Like this:

Once I click somewhere else it just reverts to "specular material"
This used to be possible back in 1.2. It's useful for me when trying to make sense of complex materials, so I can rename stuff like dermis, epiderimis, and whatnot.

Yeah the material naming bug has been a pain for a long time. I reported ages ago and would love it if was fixed. It hasn't worked in long time but did work in 1.x.
It's a very helpful feature for organizing nodes.

So I think that i could reproduce it :face_off wrote:I'm sorry - I don't have a clear understanding of the exact workflow you are following. 1) load a V7
2) render to get about 20 MB on geometry (system tab) and about 700MB texture
3) go to texture and resize 1/2 some textures.
4) go back to system : OH no, geometry size increased

5) in timeline, go to next frame (some hang)
if you can't see geometry size increase in step 4, just hit render and it will refresh the status.
Go back in texture size to 1, reset geometry size.
Note that I already state that resize texture is "permanent on this figure" on all your loaded scene until you resized it to 1.
Hope you understand what my pb when I have too many texture and can't go with OOC feature as render time is reduced cause of my PCIe USB extender.
Hope you could fix this.
Thanks Paul.

Nice
Not a huge issue, but I'm old and easily confused, so it helps me when playing around with complex materials.
Another tiny renaming thing: In the Materials tab, OctaneRender Materials window, we used to be able to rename materials by slow double click. That doesn't work anymore either. You have to right click and select "rename". The "Return" hotkey doesn't work either, but as far as I remember, it never did
