Hi!
I am looking into the eGPU option for my Macbook Pro Retina and I found the Bizon Box which is different to the Akitio Thunder2 case apparently because you can house big video cards inside the box, which is good cause I don't want my card laying around my desk.
Has anyone here been able to buy/use this Bizon box? I've found some reviews online but only game oriented, and I am looking for something more Octane render oriented.
Also I am not looking to bootcamp my Mac to use Windows, I plan to continue using OSX so anyone out there who's using eGPU solutions with OSX please let me know how your experience has been and if you own the Bizon box even better!

Hi there!
Most boxes on the market are more or less the same inside with major difference being amoint of space, PSU, speed of interface & looks =)
Firstly, performance (rendering) is not influenced by box itself, as once the data is in GPU it will render at the same speed whether the card is in eGPU box, inside Your computer or virtualised in the cloud..- you'll be limited "out of the box presets" (set clockspeeds) & if You're in windows..cooling capacity of Your card (but that's another theme).
If You have found reviews that this box is working for Mac using games (what should be no problem) it will be just fine for OctaneRender (just be carefull with version of OS =)..if cards are seen by Your computer & You have drivers, then GPUs (if they have compute capability compatible with needs of program) will be seen.
Be carefull about PSU. If You plug too hungry cards they might have some stability issues. So make sure You have enough juice to power them.
So that conection speed (or dedicated lanes & other bottlenecks =) - this will influence the speed of how fast Your data is going to be uploaded to You eGPU. If You have very cheap solution, do not expect miracles as You have to wait untill data is inside Your GPUs so they could start computing.
On the last note, I haven't seen anyOne so far over the forums that would have talked about this box or sharing any experience, but if You're a Mac guy, do search on forums "mac eGPU" - there's long thread with a lot of answers & insights =)

I've been talking with support from Bizon, they reply very quickly. They sell the chasis with a 200W PSU which they state is more than enough for a GTX 970 or GTX 980. They recommend that for the money I want to spend, I should decide between those two cards, given my system specs which one would you suggest?
This box works via Thunderbolt, so they say that speeds are very good and fast and that performance improvements are huge. Either way I would be going from a GT 750m to a GTX 970/980

I would have to look better into that bizon box, so it's hard to talk about it..
in case of Akition, the conection is via Thunderbolt two, which prmises insane speeds, however (! I do not know why companies do that) stuff inside, PCIe is hooked via 4x instead of 16x (probably jsut to keep cost lower), so while rendering speeds would be the same, upload would be slower compared to situation where the same GPU, let's sau 980Ti would be seated inside Your regular Mac =)
