Anyone else finding specular to be a lot stronger in V3? I've been having to turn it down a long way in all my skin material pre-sets so that the skin doesn't look so shiny.
I have refreshed the installer at the top of this thread with:
3.0.1.7
- Compiled with Octane 3 alpha 2.
- Suppressed "One or more GPU(s) seem to be degraded; probably because of a Nv Driver crash!" error message
- Removed the Save option "Export objects as mask images", since this functionality is now available from render passes
- Removed all saving to JPEG format options (since this was conflicting with Octane 3)
- Fixed the Materials tab Export function.
- Fixed random crash when material picking
* Rendering of VDB files - this is not currently supported in the DAZStudio plugin, and you will need to export your scene from the plugin as OCS/ORBX and import into Octane Standalone to render VDB files.
* Rendering via the Baking and Panoramic Cameras - this is not currently supported in the DAZStudio plugin, and you will need to export your scene from the plugin as OCS/ORBX and import into Octane Standalone to with these cameras. For the Baking camera, you can set the Baking Group Id in the DAZStudio plugin - under the OctaneRender options for the figure/mesh.

Hi Paul, I have updated to 3.0.1.7 and now I'm having an issue: everything is working fine except for the fact that I have to re-run the activation pocedure every time I open Studio. After a few seconds I receive the message that the plugins has been activated, but then I have to close and open Studio to have it working.
I'm on Windows 7 and the version of DAZ Studio is 4.8.0.59 Pro Edition 64 bit.
Thanks in advance
Note: downgrading to 3.0.0.6 solved the activation problem.

I don't completely understand what you are saying here. I haven't had any other reports like this. Suggest re-trying with the next release (a few days away), and if it's still an issue then I will take a closer look.Hi Paul, I have updated to 3.0.1.7 and now I'm having an issue: everything is working fine except for the fact that I have to re-run the activation pocedure every time I open Studio. EDIT: I now can confirm that Problem. Even if im logged in as Admin or start DAZ Studio as admin, The Plugin is activating first. It looks like it doesnt Store the Activation, so you can only use the Plugin when your online. As soon as your offline, the Plugin is inactive, once you start DAZ Studio.Xertyos wrote:Hi Paul, I have updated to 3.0.1.7 and now I'm having an issue: everything is working fine except for the fact that I have to re-run the activation pocedure every time I open Studio. Sorry for the inaccurate description of the problem.
This is exactly what happens to me, too. I will wait for the next release.

Octane 3 will only work when you are on-line during the alpha and beta development stages. If this is a problem for you, I suggest downgrading back to the latest 2.24 version of the plugin.EDIT: I now can confirm that Problem. I wonder what the upgrading to 3 will be like when it happens. I am assuming the alphas and betas will stop working once version 3 is final.
PS has the question of whether HDR Lightmap would create a bridge for Daz Studio been asked to them internally?
Just wishing there was a heads up about it ever happening or not by chance.
