Hey guys,
Im pretty new to octane and right now im trying to do a photorealistic human.
Ive seen some really nice photorealistic hair in some octane renders but i have no idea how to set up a nice hair shader. Any tips on this?
Thanks

Hair shader is pretty challenging, I've spent months doing tests both in Octane and VRay, and I couldn't find a definitive solution, however I found Octane Specular Material to be better than VRay Hair Shader, so I usually use that. I suggest to experiment with it, in different lighting conditions, as hair's shininess and reflection react differently based on the light position.
Hey Riccardo,
Thanks for your answer. I was talking about your work especially when i said i saw some really nice hair renders
thats very good to know. I've just discovered tony sculptors hair material in the live db and will do some experimenting with it. I used his presets as a base for my skin shader as well.

I haven't tried Tony's hair shader, but his skin shader is quite good.

Guys, where did you get 'Tony hair' material? I can't find that in liveDB! I use C4D plugin.
We've developed / released RedSpec TGX Hair this year.
It is specifically tailored to work in the Poser / DAZ Studio plug-ins, with corresponding licensed hair props / figures.
Shortly after the release, we've added a preset for hair figures / props generated with ZBrush, Cinema 4D and similar applications (strand based hair). This all works very well.
