As we suspected, the true cause of the problems people have been having with proxy objects turned out to be a bug in the OCS exporter code rather than in the proxy mechanism itself. This release should fix this.

Please test this and report any issues here.

Unfortunately the export bug has been in plugin releases for some time now (back to at least some of the early 0.14 releases, probably further). This means that most of the .ocs/orbx/obj files exported from any of these versions will be broken and cannot be re-imported as proxy objects; you will need to re-export them using the latest version of the plugin.

Captain,

I just tries proxy from a larger box to obj - there is a problem with location or scale of the proxy object - I marked it with red.

Which version of SU are you using? Did you activate it in Preferences?

I have it working on my home laptop. It works with a simple geometry. I'll try next with a more complicated, 3d even, file.

Thanks for your efforts Captain Crowbar

Edit - Opening the ocs file within standalone is like poetry. Finally fixed that previously atrocious hierarchy! Kudos!

Important question Captain: will I be able to use ocs (e.g. as proxy) when the ocs was created under 3.00?
