hi

i'm trying to create a siteplan. for this i need a lot of bushes.

i guess i have to use octane proxies for doing this.
i have merged the bush object into the scene, and used contextmenu > export to octane proxy > selected 'replace original'.

i then use the array function to create 70 instances of the bush / proxy.

when i open the octane render viewport, 3ds max grays out, and memory usage goes way up, and then i get the attaced error.

i have seen sceens where forests are created using several thousand trees. so i guess i'm doing something wrong?

any suggestions? :-)

thanks

Yes ForestpackPro is the best way to place custom vegetation.
I go this way--> (Xref) Import custom object as a Octane-Proxy to the scene, use this proxy in FPP with custom placement. So you keep scene size small and memory footprint too.

you probably have to also tick movable proxy in object props if you do not use forest.

Remember,

An octane proxy is only a viewport optimisation.

Moveable proxy /octane object properties checkbox is the render optimisation.
