Wanted to open this thread, so everybody could post their pictures created with the new Octane v3 alpha.
This shot includes the new participating media feature (aka fog / haze), it was always a PITA in 2.x to a.) set it up and b.) get it to a high quality noise-free image in 2.x. So I'm happy to report this is now much easier to set up and render times are much better as well.
This was really fun to set up and it's great to see that the medium nodes already work so well in Daylight and Texture Environment.
The plants carry our still in development (we're slowly getting there, I guess...) RedSpec TGX flora, which we will beta test, probably some time next year.

Very cool... I must find where these settings for volume are in the new V3 release.

Deane, I attached a screenshot of the OctaneRender menu and highlighted the nodes responsible for creating and controlling the fog.
These values should give you a good starting position, from which you can tweak the fog towards your scene lighting.
From what I was able to learn, the Medium radius node increases the fog amount, while the scale controls how dense the fog is.
It is crucial to set the absorption color to solid black, while the Scattering color determines the color of the fog.
Using the Octane Daylight environment worked best so far, although it should also work just fine with an HDRi map.
These are the settings I created the image two posts above with.

Good stuff, Deane - really got the god rays to shine in this oneI offer the following for consideration....

I used the participating medium yesterday, since I needed a blizzard-y atmosphere.
