hi - we work on vectorworks and need a good render application because renderworks is not really a good thing!

i tried octane and was really surprised (vray, maxwell, cinema tried before) :o

so we want to use octane for architectural renderings but vectorworks 2010 don´t export collada and obj.

do you have a tipp for me?

thank you
great work

Hi,

Does it export any other formats ?
Maybe you can find an intermediate 3d app that can convert between on of your vectorworks output formats and OBJ.

I use vw works and yes it sucks at rendering. NNA also doesn't listen to their users so I don't think you'll get vw to export obj in the short term.

You can try exporting to *.3ds, then open in "Wings3D" (free program), then export as obj from Wings3D. This workflow should be OK because you just need to get you model in Octane where you do everything else (texturing, etc.) and Octane should keep track if any changes are done to the model/obj file.

@Radiance
It would be nice to have some mapping tools in Octane (eg. Cubic, sperical, plane, cylinderical, etc, etc.) especially when using the above workflow.

Thanks,

MeshLab also makes a good intermediary program and also comes with some mesh cleaning options.
