I have two mac pro`s setups and dont want to have the two cards in one as it requires external power. so I had to split them.
In order to enable the second card/ mac, do I need a separate osx license? (or is there a networking setup so I can take advantage of the second card?)
thx!

Hi,
currently, you need a separate standalone licence for every slave in the network, no other plugin licence is needed. Only the master has to have both the standalone and plugin licenses.

To have them render together via Octane's network render you need a Standalone for the Client.
To use C4D's Team Render you need a second Standalone+Plugin package.

Yes correct, if you want to use the C4D team render feature, you need an octaneC4d plugin licence.

this is beyond confusing,
I have a second box that I plan to use it just as a c4d net render client.
I go in my main setup, open c4d, open octane project and Enable Network Rendering.
In order to do this do I need c4d opened for my "server to see the octane cards" or I need a separate c4d license and standalone license?
If I run Octane slave daemon "c4d server" is gonna be able to recognize and render the project ?
I dont need a second or third c4d license , Im not gonna use it, just trying to make the clients work and have a c4d octane "server".

To be honest - this is confusing ... "C4D net render client"?stoiqa wrote:this is beyond confusing,

Do you mean a Team Render Client? Or do you mean an Octane Client for distributed rendering (client and workstation rendering one picture together)?
If so it is simple:
Main workstation with C4D: 1x OctaneRender™ for Maxon Cinema 4D v2.x + Standalone Combo v2.x License
For each client for DR / rendering cooperative / without C4D: 1x OctaneRender™ v2.x License (Standalone)
Run the daemon thing on the client and the workstation will see the client in the Octane network settings in C4D
I guess the 3 / 5 / 10 plugin packages (without standalone) are for cases where you have multiple C4D workstations (without powerful graphic cards) and one or more dedicated render machines (running the standalone).
I hope this helps.

Hi,
sorry, I try to be more clear this time
Firstly, multi pack plugin licenses are generally designed to studios with more then one artist.
For OctaneRender™ network rendering system, you need a standalone licence (+ integrated plugin, optional) for the Master (your primary workstation) and an extra Standalone licence for every Slave connected to the Master via LAN.
For C4D internal network rendering sistem, named Team Render, in conjunction with OctaneRender™, you need a Standalone licence and an integrated plugin licence for every node of Team Render system.
What are the big differences between the two systems from an OctaneRender™ point of view?
I hope that now is more clear, if not, please let us know

- Team Render: it's the classic CPU net render system where the complete power is used only during the final calculation. All the nodes in the net system must have almost the same hardware and software because the scene and all the assets (also with plugins) are shared with all the nodes.
- OctaneRender™ network rendering system: on the contrary, with this system we can use all the power of all the GPUs in the LAN ( max 12 with v2) in anytime, from the start to the final calculation. The slaves don't need to have the same resources as the Master, since the scene is prepared by the Master and sended to the Slaves ready for the GPUs, without the need of sharing all the assets of the scene.
