Video show in the OctaneRender for Rhino plugin integration with Rhino's new HDR Light Studio connection https://www.lightmap.co.uk/hdrlightstud ... s/rhino3d/. Apologies for the poor quality audio.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the great video!

I've been testing HDR Light Studio over the past few days and it is working terrifically. Very impressed with it's ease of use. I'll post some pics within the next few days, showing some results.

Hi Paul,

at your video can be seen the old HDRLS v4.3. I like the simple interface of v4 and I own it. Can the new connection easy be used with v4?

I'm not sure Micha. I make that video a long time ago, prior to HDR Light Studio 5 being released. Most of the code to do all this is in Rhino (not the Octane plugin). I recommend you email LightMap to ask them if HDR Light Studio 4 will work.

Hi Paul,

Can you upload the HDR Light Studio 4 plugins for rhino5? LightMap said they dont update the old plugins and software. But I like the simple interface of v4.

Thanks for your help.

The actual HDR Light Studio code is part of Rhino, not the Octane plugin. The plugin is simply rendering with the HDR bitmap that Rhino is providing. My understanding is that Rhino will work with both HDR Light Studio 4 and 5, but you would need to confirm this with McNeel.

Rhino works with Light Studio 5 And octane, but the there is a significant lag between changes to the HDR and response in the octane viewport, like 1- 2- sec.

That sounds right. The plugin does not know that there is a new HDR waiting from HDR Light Studio until Rhino raises a "Content Changed" event - and it may not do this whilst still processing the HDR Light Studio HDR bitmap. So the general rule is, the larger your HDR Light Studio HDR image is, the longer it will take to refresh in Octane.

The live output of HDRLS is quite small and quick saved to the disk. I tested it with VfR and HDRLS - less than one second to update the HDR environment. So, maybe the Rhino event watcher is to slow and needs to be optimized. At Vray for Rhino it works fine.

It's a pity that the new HDRLS connection isn't available for the slight v4. It was a nice tool - clean interface, easy to use, price politic was ok.

The live update wrote a new file to the hard disk, every new one with a new name. Rhino can't recognize the new file. Only the HDRLS connection can do this. And this is available for v5 only. :(
