OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.


The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).


FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Merged with most recent Blender 2.76b version.
  • Fixed the bug: internal motion blur render kept failing if the blurred object existed not in all frames participating in blur calculation.
  • Minor fixes and improvements...

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

Octane Server - 2.24.2 - 9.7 (10.8MB autoinstaller file)

DEMO is available. Use the same Octane edition of Blender for DEMO version of OctaneServer.

Please, if you decided to report a bug:

- Don't post here the reports about how Octane engine works - use the Octane Standalone forum sections for that.
- Give a meaningful description about what you think is wrong and how to reproduce it (in addition to screenshots if any). I can't solve the "one screenshot" rebuses without any meaningful description...
- If you use Google-translator to post here - check please what you got before posting it, and edit it before posting. Ask your friends to check it if you don't speak English.
- If you like to discuss something about the plugin - create a separate thread, don't flood in these testing threads please.

Any meaningless or rebus-like "reports" here will be deleted, just to keep the testing threads clean - because these threads are directly used as the source for fixing and improving the plugin.

Hello Jim,
Use blender to work and octane. I have a problem with the animation of complex scenes. Octane Server works perfectly when has to render isolated but has a problem of occupation memory if I make animations. If a complex scene do an animation works correctly for the first few frames but the memory occupied grows. it occupies more and more, every frames increases the memory occupied by Octane Server. until the system is no longer able to work and blender closes. this happens is if I ask the animation without export wonder whether export Orbx to do the animation in Octane render Standalone. My scenes are simple houses and the camera that goes around.
You have an advice for me? If you need the files I send a WeTransfer.
Thanks for the great work you're doing.
And I very much hope that your wife find time for another helpful tutorial!

Hello Jim!

Thanks for fixing the hide object and motion blur bug!

Here is a pure ergonomic interface enhancement wish that would be nice to implement if it is not to much hassle. In the shift+A menu in the node editor, it would be very nice to have the most frequently used nodes appearing at the top of the menus. For example the texture node is one that is used all the time, and it is in the lower half of a menu with many items. If the texture node would be the first node in the menu, it would be more ergonomic and speed up the work flow. A wish to a gifted coder would be that all the menus are (could be) sorted after the most frequently used nodes. May be out of your scope, but it would be a small but very nice enhancement!

While I´m at it...

When you plug in (drag and drop) the color correction node between an image texture and a shader, the automatic routing goes from the texture to the invert input of the correction node. I´m guessing it should be routed to the texture input of the correction node.

When you plug in a color correction node between a texture and shader you loose the texture preview in the view port

Hello!

Very urgent problem here in an ongoing project that I can´t wrap my head around.

I get an error for file transfer to the server (see screen shot). At first I thought it was because of folder and file names since I have bought and downloaded a lot of models and textures. I have searched through each folder, material and texture and renamed them with standard characters.

To try to pinpoint the model/materia/texture I go through each layer one by one and render. Some times it renders fine, some times not. If I render all separate layers successfully, I can still get the error message when making a F12 render with all layers visible. Sometimes a view port render works and F12 not, some times the other way around. Some times a restart can solve it momentarily, but after a while the problem comes back.

I have tried to uninstall plugins that might be an issue (have not been before).

I have two scenes that reference each other. I tried to break the dependency making everything single user. Not the issue it seems. The error is very random, and very frequent. Some time it works, some times not.

Some times I get lines saying "WM_OT_context...." (see screen shot). That was when I thought maybe a plugin was causing this. When I google it, I mostly find Blender code I cant figure anything out from, but one post was about issues importing FBX files. I have imported a lot of FBX files from 3DSKY.COM that I have to convert to fbx2013 in Autodesks fbx-converter in order to use. Not sure if this can have something to do with the texture errors?

Jim, my scene contains commercial models and textures. I will not post the scene here, but I can send you a drop box link if you give me an address.

I have spend hours on this problem in a tight project. I´m overly grateful for any input that could get me going again

Update: I installed an earlier version (9.5) to see if this issue was introduced in the latest version. First render went fine. Thought I at least found a work around to be able to render. Then, second camera and render, same issue. So there is something in the scene causing this that is not version dependent. I got a new error message in 9.5 I did not see before. "Invalid clnors in this fan!". Strange message... Ringing any bells?

When loading MBB_Quixel_PBR material in live data base octane server crashes. This is extremely frustrating as i am eager to try the Quixel 2.0 pre set. Any ideas what could cause this? Would be great if you could look in to why this material fails to load. Its a very important material for anyone using the Quixel suite for texturing workflow.
