I have found 3 times this week that a particular set of scenes will corrupt. IPR will open, message will say "DONE" image black, no loading, nothing.
F10 will also not work.

Previusly saved scenes will work.

Octane 2.24 Lightwave 2015

I cant find the solution! Please help.

Can you please send to me one of these scenes, the original one and the corrupted one? ... it is really a strange issue, never reported before. Perhaps the problem is in other plugin, or in the LightWave itself.

Thanks,

hi Juan

Could it be a corrupt config file?

Scene is way to large to send it to you.....

IS there a way of "resetting" octane config file for a scene?

I think that you should try to remove all the LW config files, to have a clean install of the whole LW package. The Octane config file (LWOctane.cfg) is stored in the same folder as the other LW config files. You can try to remove it also, but I don't think that the Octane config file could corrupt any .lws scene.

all other scenes work fine, so i dont think is a LW config but some LWOctane config or rt or rtd file ????

it is some config file from Octane, i was able to re-write it by saving new options on the option under IPR, seems to be working again.... for now... :D

Really weird :( ... if you have this kind of problems again, please let me know and send me the config file that is causing the problem.

rendering with to little memory left... my gpus had only 41MB left, it seems that under 200MB or so, either corrupts the OCtane config file and also may not even save the file.
Activated out of core and seemed to help..... after several opening and closing options on the ipr.

Contact:

My LW config files would reset to default and a couple of times LW scene files were corrupt.

The problem was that the PSU was not strong enough ( 1250 W ) to handle 2 CPUs, 3 GPUs and all SSDs, hard disks and what not.

So take a look if you have enough power headroom.

After I added 2nd PSU I haven't had a problem since.

And always remember that LWS, LWO, OBJ (and many other 3d files) are just text files, readable by humans, and can be opened, edited, fixed in text editors. I once had a LWS that had something funky with instances, and would crash hard upon opening every time.... stripped out everything but what was clearly essential stuff, and kept objects and camera placements etc.. and managed to save myself many, many hours of hell that it would have taken to recreate... Probably helps some that I'm also a programmer, but no one should be afraid to try and edit these. Pretty self-explanitory for the most part.
