They are pretty far off from releasing Octane V3... Based on the insight I have seen in these forums... I would guess maybe March 2016 it will enter beta.

As with the earlier update from 1.x to 2.x you are not likely to save by waiting. We plan to have the cost of 2.x+v3 upgrade match the cost of a new V3 licence.

Just an educated guess... this company (OTOY), makes the biggest mistake in business.... "OVER PROMISE, AND UNDER DELIVER"
They have a great product, but a great product doesn't mean they are going to be successful... bad management can destroy a company. I use their software on a daily basis, and love it. I am standing at my word, and saying that V3 will not be out till March 2016... and only in beta. Full release will be in August 2016.. this only my opinion. I would be very excited if I am wrong.

Quite an uneducated guess, I guess, considering you are a fairly new user... Myself and Rikk were part of the 2.0 closed beta, and we can tell you Tex, your crystal ball is quite shoddy. We have seen these dudes in action... they are much faster than you think. We would report bugs (and even ask for changes and/or added features) and have new builds in hours, sometimes much less. Welcome to Octane bro.

We've carefully priced updates in the past so that updating from the last major release is no different than buying it new at the higher price attached to a major new version (in the case of 1.x it was less given than many 1.x users purchased it at $49!)

We're planning to implement this again for 2.x->3.0. Octane 1.x users can still update to V2 prior to V3 being released.

If you skipped 2.x, and are looking at V3, then upgrading to 2.x before V3 is out of beta is going to be the best official path to migrate to V3 short of getting a new license.
