I posted this question in "General Discussions" but it probably should be posted here.

In attempting to try new 'test' version of Octane C4D plugin I thought I needed to deactivate the STANDALONE version of Octane, install the updated version, activate it, then launch C4D. Could not get it to work, so I have reverted to the last working versions.

Now the problem is that Octane is asking for an activation; when I hit "Activate" it says "This standalone account is currently activated on another machine. Please deactivate it on the other machine first. As this standalone account has not been previously activated within the last hour, you can reactivate immediately." However...clicking "Activate" again just brings up the same error. Obviously I have no account running on any other machine -- how do I get up and running??

It's Mac Octane Render 2.23.2, Octane-for-C4D-2.23.2-R6.2

Hi,
in general, you don't need to deactivate the standalone licence in order to test different sub versions of the plugin ;)
For solving your current issue, please go to your personal customer account in the up right corner of this site and deactivate your licence from there, then reactivate the licence on your computer ;)

....but if I just drop the new plugin into the C4D plugins folder (without updating the standalone version, which is the 'recommended' method according to aoktar), when I launch C4D it gives the "running on another machine" message. This should not be so hard; I wish I knew what I'm doing wrong -- or there was a simple, step-by-step set of instructions on how to update. (There probably is, but I can't find it....)

I am reluctant to do anything with deactivating/reactivating that requires me to wait for an hour to 'undo' --

If I remember well, this only happen if you switch between v2.3.x to v2.4.x since there were a change in the licence scheme. Now we have a stable version v2.24.1-R3 stable and a new v2.24.2-TEST3.1 for testing the new features. Why you need to stay with the v2.23.2 ?

I don't have to stay with 2.23.2 -- unless 2.24 doesn't work as expected for me. I am slow to change, and quick to return to what works! :!:
As I recall, the first time I tried 2.24.x, I had problems getting Octane materials to display...and got the "running on another machine" error.

A straightforward question: Do I need to deactivate the Standalone before installing the new version, and do I need to deactivate the C4D plugin before installing the new version?

Thank you.

There is no rule to make any (de)activations without seeing this warning. When you see go to your Account in Otoy site and make deactivation for SA and plugins licences. I hope that's easy and clear enough?

Got it. Replaced the Standalone, replaced the C4D plugin, launched C4D, got the "running on another machine" message, went to my Account and clicked "deactivate" on both, went back to C4D and all is well.

hi guys, i'm having kind of similar issues lately.
this never happened before, i deactived my license and reactived and used it on another machine.later i switched it again to my primary computer.everything's fine till here.
the thing is its working okay but it auto-fills the account name and pass so it activates automatically if it's connected to internet, but if i don't have a connection i cant seem to load to plugin even if its activated earlier.it checks for network everytime, tried to remove the plugin and deactivate from the site couple of times but it happens everytime no matter the version.connection:auto fill&good to go activated, then i disable the network and enter c4d boom octane fails to load.
any help? thanks
