Howdy,

So how do you setup the NGE for a material that uses a displacement map?
Every time i use the displacement node it changes the input image to a uniform grey color...

Thanks.

Hi,
I guess that you need a displacement node between the image and the material node:

Still doesn't work all the time, but close enough.
Another problem though, how do I keep the edges from displacing and just have the actual detail displacement. (or how do I set a zero value i guess)?

Hi,
unfortunately, displacement on GPU is a bit limited and is not possible to use mixed node or procedural textures for fine tuning the effect. I guess that you need to blur the part of the image in photoshop or similar. Could you post a screenshot of what you have?

I fixed the image in photoshop.
It seems you need to plug the image directly in the displacement node, otherwise the displacement won't work either. Just setting a color correction node after an image removes the displacement.

I came across another problem: when I plug both displacement and bump maps into the material, the different polygons of the mesh look different. The bump alone doesn't have it, and the displacement alone doesn't have it.
I attached 3 images: one with only bump, one with only displacement and one with both that show the problem. How do I fix that?

Hi,
please, look at my previous screenshot, the material with bump is attached in both first and second material pins of a mix material and the displacement is attached to the mix, give it a try ;)

Here is a screen cap, some of the polygons look flipped

I've seen this sometimes on some items that have displacement. Make sure the level of detail is set accordingly in the drop down (it goes from 1042 up to 8096 or something like that). This usually fixes the problem for me, or sometimes I need to mess with the height and offset a bit.
