Hi,
use one of the latest standalone installer and then restart your machine, it should change the TDR to 10s, if this is not enough, please look at here:

ciao beppe
This worked! Thank you!

Hi Ahmet

Scater is amazing, its really fast
but current version makes random crashes with my C4D R16.
I can't provide bug report because crash hangs my cinema.

I'm sure you fix it soon, It's worth waiting.

Thanks for great update and waiting for stable release .

One thing that could be cool to have in the scatter object, would be the ability to fill out a volume instead of just a surface.
I know this is probably not a request thread, just though I would mention it.

I can't believe how fast this became part of my workflow. I'm so much looking forward to v. 3

I'm having similar ideas but maybe with a different object type. I call it as Octane volume. You know we have voxels in 3.0. We can use it to create 3d procedural volume objects, load vdb, etc.. Even possible to generate just geometry as scatter does.

I've been playing with the latest release, which is very impressive, but noticed that where before I could make changes to my HDR images in the Sky object, now I can't. Things like White and Black point and Exposure don't do anything – I'm sure they worked on the same sort of HDRIs previously. It's really useful feature – is there any reason why this functionality isn't there any more or has stopped working?

I have tried with a selection of HDRIs...

Hi Ahmed,

here is my attempt to make dust and dirt using the new scatter. 24 Million instances on the table and some books and it's still very fast preparing the scene and rendering.
The rain drips are done with scatter, too. I had some crashes during work and one or two times some of the 4 scatter objects stopped generating objects. Could not figure out when that happens.
Render time: 13 minutes, 192x1200 pixel, PMC , 1500 samples.

hello .

a quick feedback and report > I was testing this cool hair test by Inlife Thrill,
trying_to_replicate_the_cool_hair_test_from_inlifethrill_designs.jpg
I noticed that the shader used in the original test using version 2.32.2 RC2 is giving a certain result, and trying to replicate the same look, it's not working with version 2.24.2 test 2.

It's just to let you know, not a big deal.
I thought the way inlifethrill was spreading the color with the noise and colorizer was quite nice.

thanks!!

I didn't understood what are you doing. A scene or image will helpful. This is test version and i'm re-organising some parts. So this is normal but feedbacks help to detect problems.

Some changes in TEST2
- Scatter object: Improvements on capability, parameters and gui. Import feature for Phantom Scatter's CSV files.
- Hair engine: It's revised. Now same output on LV and PV. Also no need to add Hair VPost effect in Picture viewer. Also added an "Hair" section to Octane Object Tag. It will allow to render splines and XP Trail objects as hairs. Even with UV assignment. So you can give some gradient to produce random colors every lines.
