Hi,
just a guess, could it be related to the OpenGL mode of 3ds Max?
Since you have the latest nvidia card in the market, maybe there is a problem of youth of the drivers

I'd hoped that Otoy has some kind of relationship with Nvidia. Is there's is a driver recommendation that
would a better choice for Max 2016 and Octane? Nvidia has 7 different drivers available for my Geo 980 TI's
but no information on which is the best one to use for my situation.

Hi,
my suggestion is to try first with the OpenGL mode of 3ds Max, if the changes don't have any effect, then you could go back of one version of the drivers. Don't forget to choose the option for a clean install during the installation of the older driver.

Tried converting the display to Legacy Opengl mode and my graphic card devices won't show up.
Tried doing a clean Nvidia driver install to an older driver ver. 353.06. My devices are still missing.
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the demo plugin ver. 2.24.2-2.10. My devices are still missing.
I've lost all patience with bug checking your software. All these extraneous versions of Octane seem
to be taxing resources. Making sure demos and core apps are working properly should be more of a
priority.

No crashing, lock ups, or other issues.
Hi lwmotion,
I very happy to see your notice.
I prepare to buy a card GTX 980 ti and work with Vray RT in Max 2016, so I looking for the information about it in Youtube but don't see, instead is GTX 980. But I like number of CUDA of GTX 980 ti, I think 980 TI working better than 980 in Vray RT.
Thank you for this information!

Hi lwmotion, I got exactly the same problem as you did, max 2016 octane plugin crashing after restart and octane standalone working perfectly. Found what was causing it, ir was gpu drivers. You need to uninstall all invidia drivers, install only the latest one and only once. Also delete environment variables for nvidia related drivers.
