Hi,
I ordered one cluster with 10 ft cable and 2 channel host card
for about 450 USD. SKU-078-21
I have no experiences yet and still hope, when I get all that stuff,
that everything will work.
I hoped initially with this post to get feedback from guys
already using this amfeltec-cluster.
regards
Mike

Just wanna share, Amfeltec cluster is good solution for me right now, the cheapest way to achieve an external gpus .
I put 4x old GTX Octane on it hooked up to my PC. regarding the transfer speed, I think it's reasonably quick though. Actually it is not disappointing at all.
btw, I've got a new update board of that cluster from them at no cost. It seemed more stable and solid board. I'm happy with it

Hi rfox,
Cluster from Canada arrived today.
Still waiting for the Grafikcards.
With adding one cluster only - I still need that Molex-HD-Cable which connects from the
cluster-host board to the main PC as well?
I'm a bit confused about the need of 3 Power-connections.

Hi Glimpse
I'm really interested to your solution.
I ask you where is possible to buy in Europe the Amfeltec Backplate (I suppose you've ordered SKU-076-01, correct?).
Also is interesting to know how the board are seen and managed by the OS. Can I switch them on-off from Octane in the usual way?
Thanks and sorry for my newbie questions...

Mike,
are you ordering dual or more host board for your cluster? if yes, so i think yes...you need molex to be connected with power control cable which is connected to cluster backplane.
you can download assembly instructions (PDF) through their website : http://amfeltec.com/products/downloads/ ... ctions.pdf

Hi Ron,
yes, got all built and it rendered already for about 30 hours without any problems.
With these 4 x 780s OC there is really a great speed improvement.
The last 2 days I suddenly got strange win 10 blue screens (dpc watchdog violation)
Not sure why this happend, maybe the nvidia audio drivers which installed beside the realtec- don't know.
I deinstalled all nvidia drivers other than the pure display drivers an everything seams now
to work again. I hope.
The cluster is really a big time safer. Reduced render time for 1920hd
with motionblur and dof etc. from 6 to 2 minutes per frame.
So I'm happy with that config.
