Instancing and Memory Usage
*************************

Why do I used more GPU memory when taking one plant and copying it 10 times, rather than it staying exactly the same ?? I thought the major point of Octane is that it can do geometry instancing, to save GPU memory ?
So one plant should be the same GPU memory footprint of 10 instances of that plant.

Is there something special I have to do, like my a PROXY object ?

You don't say which plugin you are using (if any)? It works in the Blender plugin, but you have to make sure to set the object type to "scatter". That is how the plugin determines whether the object is to be instanced or not. Once set the plugin will generate the scatter values and Octane will instance it.
