Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3 GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W BX80648I75820K Desktop Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product
MSI X99A Raider LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813130866

The two above is about $600, add in $200 for 32 Gb of memory and I'm sitting at $800 so it's doable with my budget. According to the specs the motherboard will support 8x,8x,8x with a 28 lane CPU. So that should be good for Octane. My biggest concern is that the third PCI slot is right at the end of the motherboard, I haven't seen many cases that will allow you to put a 2 slot card there?
This is good combo. Have you considered this $160 Silverstone case [ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811163185 ]. I have six of them and they support up to four double-wide PCIe slotted motherboards ( and even in the fourth slot of a four slotted motherboard there's room for the fourth/end double-wide card). Given the orientation at which the motherboard is installed, this case will help to keep your GPUs and motherboard a bit cooler ->hot air exhausts out of the top of the case. Moreover, it has lots of room for extra fans and storage devices = 12+ drives. I recommend that you watch the video.
Because I have 180+ GPU processers in 16 tweaked/multiOS systems - Character limit prevents detailed stats.

Thanks Tutor, I will definitely look into that one. :)

I pulled the trigger and ordered the following:

1 x ($389.99) Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3 GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W BX80648I75820K Desktop Processor

1 x ($219.99) MSI X99A Raider LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

1 x ($199.99) G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15Q-32GRR

1 x ($30.99) Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

With shipping it ended up being $871.00. Not too far off my limit. :)

I also found this case here locally (shipping cases to Alaska is very expensive):

The parts should get here today, so knock on wood, and I will see if I have something that will work and last me for the next 5 years. Thanks again to everyone who helped me put this together, you guys are awesome! :D

I have the new system built and running now, just running tests on it. So far it's been great! I have the CPU overclocked to 3.8 Ghz and the memory up to it's speed (2400). The case and cooler are working awesomely and hardly any sound from the 6 fans (including GPU fans). I have been hitting both the CPU and GPUs hard and they don't get above 70C. The highest the CPU got was 68C and the 980 got up to 63C. The CPU cooler is working very well, with just one fan even (I can add another if needed). The case did have an annoying buzzing rattle, but I was able to fix that by tightening down the case screws.

Overall this system is working really well, and at least up to now, I would recommend this system for those looking for a mid-range build. :D
