matte material - disable shadow

i know that matte objects / material are often used to add shadows when merged with an kontext photo.

but if i would like to block something out of my model - i could use the matte material, but then there should be no shadows on the matte object.

is it possible to disable shadows on matte material / objects?

I also really want to know about this. It is easy with VRAY but not so with Octane. Anyone ??
