Does anyone have a good and simple way of projecting logos onto an object? I feel like I have no control over the rotation and scaling. It seems no matter what I do the pivot point is somewhere outside my geometry. How do I place (project) a logo onto an object? And no, mesh UV projection does not do the trick.

At the same time I would like to know how to do the logo projection with only the logo (alpha). Any tips?

Cheers

hi, this is just some idea. this one uses a box projection, but your case might call for proper UV's on the mesh and then use the mesh uv projection (default) instead of the box projection used here:

it's a trick but might work

Thanks a lot, that helped the "alpha part" of my problem. But placing the logo exactly right on the object rotated, straight and scaled is an entirely different story. If I need to UV map the logo to the object then I might as well just hard-model it in CAD. I mean Bump is not needed, but still nice to have as an option (I'm a bit frustrated here ...). What to do? Actually I never uv-mapped anything before, it looks pretty straight forward, but my objects are born as nurbs and are then exported as mesh. If you split up an obj file tesselated straight from nurbs, then you will see multible meshes and that sucks in many ways (when it comes to projections). So my real question might be this: How do I convert my "multible mesh obj-file to behave as one uniform mesh without loosing geometry?

I thought I found a solution of how to join the meshes. I exported as stl and then saved as obj. that made one uniform mesh, however now the UV-mesh projection does not project anything. Weird?

Hi.
if you don't want to work with uvs in c4d, you can use the same technique proposed by abreukers but restricted to a polygon selection so you can more easily place the decals:

That is a good idea, but can sellection be too large? I tried that but i susspect my poly-count is too great. I dont know, any ideas are welcome. I cant figure it out.

hi,
a workaround should be to set the nurbs at a lower resolution before transforming into a mesh for semplify the polygon selections, an then add a nurbs object as a father for having again the correct subdivision
