Hello again,

Is there a material library? I haven't been able to find one.
Would I be able to add Octane shaders to my geometry with the Blender plugin/translator, or will I need to assign Blender materials and tweak them or switch them later in Octane? Just wondering what the work flow would be like.

Thanks,
M

Hi,

There's no material library yet, we're working on one.
The workflow is to export your geometry (with uv maps if you use image textures) to OBJ,
import into octane and then, in real-time you finetune your scene, materials, lighting, camera, tonemapping etc...

you're not supposed to pre-tweak materials blindly in your 3d host app, octane is all about doing this in real-time in it's own UI.

Thanks for that clarification.
Just curious though, what is the Blender plugin for if I'm just exporting to.OBJ etc.?
What doe s it do?

it exports additional things like camera position / motion blur, sunlight direction, and can batch render animations.
the 3rd video on our videos page shows the same plugin but in maya (they are all identical in functionality)
