Heya,

I have an object which is a ground plane with plastic fencing on it with metal poles securing the fence every 12 feet or so. Now my quandry is this: The ground plane has a diffuse surface in which I use the matte button to make it a shadow catching object. The poles and plastic fence are glossy surfaces. There is no matte button in the glossy settings! Is there a way turn those surfaces into shadow catching surfaces? Or even better, is there a way to turn the whole object into a shadow catching object?

Currently the shadow catcher workflow using the "matte" feature is only available the in diffuse node. Sorry, but you need to use this node in all the materials that must work as shadow catcher, so perhaps you are going to need to render one pass with diffuse materials to get the shadow information, and other pass with the right materials.
