hello aoktar.
im rendering a long camera-flythrough through a scene with many hairs. nothing moves. all static objects. how can i stop octane from preparing hair every frame? on 2000 frames this is quite a lot of time, that i coud save.. any hints?

I think we don't apply any any smart update mechanism in animation rendering. I may be wrong. I'll check it.momade wrote:hello aoktar.

thanks for checking aoktar.
As i see that it shouldn't updated If you set use "Manual assignment" and use hairs without object tag. See attached sample scene.momade wrote:aoktar wrote:I think we don't apply any any smart update mechanism in animation rendering. I may be wrong. I'll check it.momade wrote:hello aoktar.

strange. if i hit the render button on your scene it sais prepairing hair. and if i use your hint on my scene rendertimes and preparing times dont change.
So it could be changed on my wip version.momade wrote:As i see that it shouldn't updated If you set use "Manual assignment" and use hairs without object tag. See attached sample scene.

i manage ok here. dont worry. final render is on. 5 days to go still..
but keep it on mind for the next official release. would be nice for the future.

aoktar.
one minor thing i always wanted to post is:
over night im rendering something to picture viever with all GPUs activated.
next morning its not done, so i want to deactivate my OS GPU for better performance while working in software and so on.
dechecking the checkbox in 'octane-settings / devices' while still rendering to picture viewer and then stopping the render sets the checkbox back to enbabled.
i have to stop rendering and then dechecking the box.
often enough i miss that and start a whole new renderprocess with all GPUs active even though i wanted my OS card to idle.
is this fixable?

Hi,
I'm having a bit of a problem with Render Queue.
I have several shots in this project and wanted to batch render them but after a while C4D crashes or it simply freezes.
I can close it via task manager and restart the render from where it left off but I'm getting the same behaviour after a few frames being rendered from the current render job.
However everything runs smoothly when I render it shot by shot in picture viewer, but of course it's not the preferred way to do it.
I've attached the last bug report and here is the link to one of the shots' c4d project file: http://mab.to/J6ZCZj5H7
OS: Win 10
Plugin version: 2.24.0 R1
Cinema 4D R16
Can you please help?
Thank you!
