I think that review is spot on with the strengths and weaknesses. I'm hoping to finally ditch Mental Ray and use Octane for most of my production rendering within a year's time. It took a while to convince me, but GPU will be king in the coming years, unless some amazing breakthrough that transcends Moore's law boosts CPU speeds.
