Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2013.5, 2014, 2015 and 2016 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 459€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® License" priced at 199€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

CHANGES SINCE THE PREVIOUS VERSION
  • Implemented OctaneRender support for the new Maya 2016 feature: Material Viewer. Remember that whenever your Octane live-rendering session is active - material viewer will not be refreshing.
  • Fixed the bug: Octane panoramic camera didn't work correctly with the scene scale set other than 1.0.
  • Post processing pass is back.
  • Minor fixes and improvements...

Hi Jimstar,

When I try to batch render a scene, the Maya Batch render is crashing, so I can not get an animation out with Octane4Maya. The IPR works fine.
But when I click on batch render in the Render Menu, a window pops up that says Maya Batch just stopped working.
I need to find a solution quickly.

System: Win 7 - 64bit - Maya 2015 - Octane4Maya 2.23.2 - 7.9 Win

Scene: Instanced nParticles with a turbulance field and Per Particle Attributes for ID, Scale and Rotation

Render Log Output in Verbose mode:
---
9/4/2015

Starting "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2015\bin\mayabatch.exe"
QWidget: Cannot cr// Maya exited with status -1073741819

The batch rendering works fine on my test scenes...
Could you give me the scene where it is reproducable for you?

Hi JimStar,
I have tested the Batch rendering with a different renderer. It is still crashing, so this issue is not a Octane4Maya problem.

No, they don't support the silent mode in current versions.

I am using multiple Render Plugins in Maya for visualisation purposes with models in Z-UP.
Is there a way to change the scene up (for Octane)?
When I set the Scene to Z-Up in the Maya prefs, Octane will not use this information and it will still show the rendering with a Y-Up camera.
So the renderings don't match.
I could rotate the model to Y-Up and only work in Y-Up but this would not be the best way in this case because I import and export things frequently.
