So far I've tested all Maya native shaders. Nothing translates to Specular shader of Octane. All other renderer's material so far seems to translates to Diffuse. For example, Mental Ray, Vray and Maxwell.
Workflow would be much faster to assign maps and edit some basic settings in Hypershade.
Is it possible to have 3 Maya shaders designed for Octane?

I don´t know if that helps, but i can you say what work in softimage.Krisonrik wrote:So far I've tested all Maya native shaders. Nothing translates to Specular shader of Octane. All other renderer's material so far seems to translates to Diffuse. For example, Mental Ray, Vray and Maxwell.

I use only a Phong to create the things i want in Octane.
Diffuse don´t have a specular color, try to change it to black. Also they don´t have a roll off change it to <1.
Specular must have a index of refraction > 1. The reflect color shouldn´t be black.
Glossy have a specular color and a roll off >1. Maye he must have a reflect color != black.
Maybe it helps a little...

I used to tweak my materials with these tips :

It worked with early version...maybe in last too.
