in the Octane viewport we can see the actual render progress (time elapsed, est. time remaining)
Why not for the final render?

This is how Max render dialog works and nothing's wrong there.
It's mostly useful when you render out animations.

i did not say there is something wrong there. i´ve been using 3smax for over 15 years and there is still something missing ! :-)
But now that i am used to Octane Viewport with that nice extra information I would love to see it in the final render window...
(i mostly do big renders and no animations.)
And for Vray there is some kind of "elpased time/est. time left"- info in that window....
