Octane crashes when i try to import into octane.
I mean i have a gtx 580 1.5 gb.
It only has 4599 verts (not that much really)
it crashes at any random time of the import.
I used blender to model and export.
It works fine if i import into maya. and then import into octane (after exporting from maya)
why is blender a problem for octane?
crashes when i import obj

hi larmannjan,
does this also happen when you try exporting an even much simpler scene? it may be caused by a few stray vertices or edges in the obj file. maybe also try re-exporting using different exporting options from the modeling program

I imported the same file into Maya then exported as .obj from Maya. That worked fine. Is the a way to assign materials only to part of a mesh. Somehow all the parts got joined to one in the export. Is there a way seperate by loose parts in octane? What about just faces of an object.

Hi larmannjan, you have to use multimaterials in blender for different materials in octane.
Assigning materials to vertices:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2 ... _Materials
Have a look to the manual for correct export settings in blender.
First uncheck "Include Edges"
Cheers, mib.

i can't even find a way for stand-alone to accept .obj files...where/how do you do it?
