Hi,

Although I have Octane for Rhino on my Windows PC, I somehow must often boot into my Mac, so I was thinking of buying Rhino for Mac. On the Rhino web site I read that very soon plugins would be working, too, but no c++ ones. So my question about any plans of developing an octane plugin for Rhino closely to the release of Rhino5.1 for Mac?

Thanks

Hi - I would love to do an OX version. I will install Rhino for OSX in the next week and have a look at how viable this would be. I ran the MoMa tool described at http://wiki.mcneel.com/developer/rhinocommon and it reported /lot/ of incompatibilities, so my guess is that it will not be easy.

This is super cool news. So I can now safely buy Rhino for OSX and patiently wait for the plugin. Cool. Being able to switch between Windows and Mac and continue working on the same project is really wonderful. :)

Thanks!

Not sure I would call that "safe"! It may not be possible to post the plugin to OSX - the Mono .NET implementation may be too limited. But I will try.

Well I have still 35 days for trial left, so I'll better wait until I have your 'safety flag' set :)

I did an initial foray into porting the plugin to OSX. In summary, I was able to install all the developer tools on OSX, I was able to run Rhino For Mac, I was able to compile and run the plugin using the Zamarin tools on Windows, however....when it came to compiling the plugin on OSX, there are a substantial number of RhinoCommon classes missing from Rhino for Mac. The McNeel devs will look to include those in a future release of Rhino for Mac, but I doubt there would be a quick turn-around, since I suspect it will be quite a lot of work for them.

Yes indeed, thank you very much for all the research! Is this good news? Hmm, I think yes as now the Rhino developers are aware of what parts are missing and can more easily fill the gap. When exactly that will happen? Well I hope sooner than later :)

Thanks and best regards
